Two More Chances to Audition for Veronica's Room!
Aug 20, 2017
Local thespians, you have two more chances to audition for the opening show of Bradford Little Theatre’s (BLT) 21st season, “Veronica’s Room.”
The additional auditions will be held at Togi’s Playhouse, 18 Welch Ave. in Bradford, on Wednesday, August 23rd and Thursday, August 24th from 6pm until 8 pm.
By Ira Levin, the author of “Rosemary’s Baby,” this insidious psychological thriller explores the thin line between fantasy and reality. A young couple find themselves as guests enticed to the Brabissant mansion by its dissolute, lonely caretakers. Struck by the young woman’s strong resemblance to the long- dead daughter of the family for whom they work, the eponymous Veronica, the older couple gradually convince her to impersonate Veronica briefly to comfort the only living Brabissant, Veronica’s addled sister who believes her to be alive. Once dressed in Veronica’s clothes, the young woman finds herself locked in the role and locked in Veronica’s room.
There are 4 roles available:
- The Older Woman, mid-fifties or sixties, who is pleasant, charming and charismatic - but is hiding a dark secret.
- The Older Man, mid-fifties or sixties, who is sweet, but easily manipulated - bows to whatever the Woman wants him to do.
- The Young Man, mid-twenties, is defensive, rude and a bit abrasive - there is something off about him.
- The Young Woman, mid-twenties, very free, promiscuous and smart - very much a hippy. This actress needs to be comfortable with mild, partial nudity.
Irish and New Jersey accents are desired but not required.
Those interested in auditioning do not need to prepare anything in advance, but should dress comfortable and be ready to read and act out scenes. Everyone auditioning is asked bring a list of known scheduling conflicts.
“Veronica’s Room” will be performed at Togi’s Playhouse October 13 - 15th, 2017.
