Oschman To Recieve BLT Brauser Award!
Apr 10, 2018
Bradford Little Theatre is pleased to announce that Shane Oschman will be receiving the organization’s Brauser Award.
Oschman will be presented with the award by board president Kristin Asinger on Friday at the opening performance of “Bye Bye Birdie” at Bradford Area High School auditorium.
The Lester Brauser Theatre Appreciation Award, established in 2001, is presented to an individual or individuals whose work makes community theatre possible in the Bradford area. The award is named after theatre enthusiast the late Lester Brauser.
“Shane is a key person in our community for the performing arts and has a wealth of knowledge in all areas from directing to lighting, performing, stage management and bringing in talented performers,” Asinger said. “He is very deserving of the Brauser Award.”
Oschman has been actively involved in local community theatre since arriving to Bradford over eleven years ago. His involvement began with BLT’s production of “Waiting For McArthur” in 2007 in which he operated the light board for the show. Since then Oschman has been involved on and off stage in more than 10 BLT shows including being music director for this weekend’s “Bye Bye Birdie.” Oschman also starred as Jesus in BLT’s productions of “Jesus Christ Superstar” and “Godspell.” He has been involved in many other shows in the region including shows for Olean Community Theatre and Olean Theatre Workshop. Oschman’s most memorable role was performing as Jean Valjean in the Olean Theatre Workshop production of “Les Miserables.” Additionally Oschman has assisted in various roles with Kiwanis Kapers for over 10 years and currently serves as President of Bradford Creative and Performing Arts Center.
“It is always an honor and a pleasure to work with Shane and BLT is thrilled to highlight all that Shane has done for our community and Bradford Little Theatre through this award,” Asinger said.
“I am overwhelmed by receiving the Brauser Award. I never got to know Mr. Brauser or the great arts programming that was produced during his tenure,” Oschman said. “However, Bradford has always been very good to me since my arrival in the fall of 2006 and it has been so enjoyable to be part of so many artistic opportunities in this charming town. The arts have always been a hobby for me, an opportunity to relax and to escape from other responsibilities for a little while. I thank Bradford Little Theatre for extending this honor to me. It is amazing to be recognized for the efforts that I pursue for fun and for the purpose of bringing enjoyment to others.”
Past recipients of the Brauser Award include the late Dr. Robert C. Laing Jr., John and Marlene Kijowski, Dr. Richard Frederick, the James VanScoy family, the late Marmy and Steve Hodges, Patty Bianco, Ron Johnson, H.L. “Woody” Woodruff, Richard “Dick” Marcott, Jeanie Satterwhite, Diane Kerner Arnett, and Nanci K. Garris.
